Disability:IN Conference – Orlando – Day 1 – July 2025

Day 1 at Disability:IN Conference in Orlando – and I‘m already so inspired by the incredible speakers in the opening plenary!

Eva Erickson, the first openly autistic contestant of the show Survivor, was already a highlight. Eva’s authentic sharing of her own autism journey broke barriers, reminding us that disability is not a limitation but a vital part of identity.

Equally unforgettable were the contributions of Sinéad Burke and Molly Burke. Sinéad Burke is a true global changemaker, fashion icon, power woman and true rolemodel. Google her!! Her work relentlessly challenges outdated standards, insists on inclusive design, and amplifies disabled voices in the industry.

Molly not only inspired the room with her journey as a blind creator and advocate but is directly shaping the future of accessibility in publishing. Her insights led her publisher to consider enhanced formats for visually impaired readers, paving the way for more accessible books for all showing the tangible power of lived experience in driving real change.

I’m so grateful for these trailblazers who are not just raising awareness but actually changing the world, right now. Can’t wait to keep learning, sharing, and connecting over the next few days!
