Inclusive Design: WeAreOpen’s Methodology to Create Open, Inclusive, and Psychologically Safe Workplaces that Welcome All
I am excited to share my recent contribution to the whitepaper titled “Inclusive Design: WeAreOpen’s Methodology to Create Open, Inclusive, and Psychologically Safe Workplaces that Welcome All,” authored by We Are Open in Hungary.
I had the privilege to meet Nóra Várady, CEO at WeAreOpen at the East Meets West Conference in Vienna last year. I was impressed by her emotional speech, her passion and dedication not just for inclusive, and psychologically safe workplaces but also inclusive and safe communities.

We Are Open is Europe’s biggest business coalition with more than 1100 signatories of their manifesto ”We treat everyone with the same respect. Regardless of their sex, age, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnicity, politics, physical abilities, or any other distinguishing factor. The actions and accomplishments of each individual are what matter to us. We are open because it pays to be open; as a person, and as a business. Because open organisations are more successful and the people who work there are happier. ” Their mission is providing meaningful and transformative DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) services to companies.
In my input, I emphasized the critical importance of supplier diversity and inclusion efforts within organizations. Supplier Diversity not only broadens the supplier pool but also fosters innovation and enhances competition, ultimately leading to better business outcomes.
Did you know that companies spend up to 60% of their revenue on external purchasing and supplier spend? Why do they not include their supply chain in their Diversity & Inclusion efforts? The Supplier Diversity chapter is a must-read because it shows how Diversity & Inclusion efforts in the supply chain can significantly improve a company’s performance and competitive advantage, and it outlines practical approaches to more inclusive purchasing practices that you can apply directly in your organization.
